Abstract Format
Abstracts should be submitted in one of the following three formats with reference to the main themes. Kindly note that the topic of interest relating to the themes must fit the given format accordingly.
Format I: Research Findings in Brief
This format is most appropriate for the presentation of research findings. It will be suitable for the researchers who undertake study on the status of attitude and behaviour of deaf people towards their lives. The content of this format includes:
Title of the Presentation: The title should be between 10 to 15 words and should reflect on the presentation.
Background/Objectives: To introduce the topic, the author will be able to state the objectives of the paper. Also, he will be able to reveal the hypothesis to be tested, as well as the description of the problem.
Methodology: To undertake research study, the researcher will be able to display the methods used or approach taken during data collection like interview, questionnaire, opinionative or experimental basis.
Results: After data collection, the researcher will be able to state specific results in summary form.Conclusions: The researcher will be able to arrive at the conclusion, the discussions, and implications of the research findings.
Kindly note that the abstract should disclose findings and not include statements such as results will be discussed.
Format II: Factual Summary
This format is most appropriate for the speaker to present the paper with interesting facts or characteristics rather than with thoughts or feelings. There should be clarity of ideas and their logical presentation. The ideal topics for this format will include the importance of yoga, importance of vegetarianism, importance of sign language. The content of this format should be:
Title of the Presentation: The title should be between 10 to 15 words and should reflect on the presentation.
Introduction/ Purposes: To begin with, the speaker will state the objectives of the paper. Along with this, the topic will disclose recent findings, the concept or the historical background of the topic in brief. It will also be able to state the importance of the topic.
Body: The topic will be able to answer questions in brief, such as "How important is the topic for us?" The speaker will be able to state the main facts along with brief explanation and a few illustrations. Also, the topic will relate the personal experiences of the speaker in short.
Conclusion: The speaker should state the overview of the topic in general along with his personal opinion. The application of the topic in the present times will also be mentioned in brief.
Format III: Descriptive Summary
This format is most appropriate for description of personal experiences and management of life issues. The suitable topics for this format will include: Is one happy of being deaf?; Relationship between the deaf and the hearing; Responsibilities of the deaf person. The main content of this format should be:
Title of the Presentation: The title should be between 10 to 15 words and should reflect on the presentation.
Introduction: To introduce the topic, the speaker will be able to state the background of the vivid experiences or issues along with his interest of the particular topic. It will also disclose identification of the problem and its importance.
Body: The main body of the abstract will consist of the main description on what the author observes and perceives. He will be able to note down the main ideas or experiences in brief. There should be good logical reasoning along with good imaginative language, comparisons of places, objects, people and events that appeal to the senses. Moreover, the solutions for the issues or problems will also be discussed in brief.Conclusion: The speaker will be able to disclose the lessons learnt and implications along with his personal opinions.
